All of the stockings were hung by the chimney with care.
And come Christmas morning they would be full of gifts, but not any that Santa had delivered. Instead, my family decided to give the big guy a break this year.
We tried this game once a couple years ago and enjoyed it so much we decided to play it again this Christmas. The rules are easy. Every individual purchases or makes 8 gifts (or however many people are participating, including himself or herself). The price limit is $5 per gift. Each gift must be wrapped the same way and prior to Christmas one must stealthily place a gift in everyone’s stocking, including his or her own. On Christmas morning, everyone opens the same gift at the same time and everyone guesses who gave what gift!
This is a great tradition in which everyone can participate and everyone can enjoy! When the rules were sent out via email earlier this month, the email closed with the following message:
“And there were shepherds out in the field keeping watch over their flocks at night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them and said ‘This is going to be fun.’”
